A landscape design project for a wide underpass intersection and the space beneath the bridge.
We designed the landscape for a large, open plaza with the goal of softening the overwhelming concrete environment.
Through thoughtful planting and spatial organization, we aimed to bring a touch of nature into the heart of the urban space—creating a more welcoming, breathable atmosphere for daily use and public interaction.
Because the area was part of a busy road intersection, we designed the central green island with a slightly elevated, low-mounded form. This helped block direct headlight glare between vehicles while still allowing the planting design to be clearly visible from the road. The low-height greenery ensured safety and visibility while adding a soft, natural touch to the traffic-heavy setting.
Since the area was partly shaded and received limited sunlight, the plant selection was made accordingly—using species that thrive in partial to full shade conditions.
